And the choice of young pacer Usama Mir, who was able to clear the last hurdle before the much-awaited Australia tour, did come as a much-needed booster dose for Pakistan’s national cricket team. Fans are anxious about how well-prepared and well-performing the team will be coming into this series because, after all, for Pakistan, nothing matches the sternness of this particular tour, hence the imperative of including in-form cricketer Usama Mir in the squad just for this purpose.
Successful Fitness Test in Rawalpindi
Usama Mir’s selection came to light after he successfully passed a tough fitness test. The test was done by members of the selection committee- Aleem Dar and Aqib Javed- along with the doctors of the team at the training session in Rawalpindi. Usama had to run the 2-kilometer race within eight minutes. Therefore, Usama completed the race successfully as well, opening doors for his selection.
A Boost to Pakistan’s Spin Attack
Usama Mir is likely to become a part of Pakistan’s spin attack as the selection committee appears to have no plans for Shadab Khan. His experience will come in handy for Pakistan sooner rather than later, particularly on the fast pitches of Australia. Mehran Mumtaz and Sufiyan Muqeem will also be a part of Pakistan’s spin-bowling unit.
