As the festival of Diwali lit up homes and hearts all over South Asia, President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif sent warm greetings to Hindus in Pakistan and around the world. They stressed the importance of respect, peace, and unity among all religions.

Messages of Peace and Acceptance
President Zardari said in his official message that Diwali represents the triumph of light over darkness and good over evil. He also reminded people that Pakistan’s strength comes from its diversity.
“On this happy day, I send my best wishes to our Hindu brothers and sisters. In his message, Zardari said, “May the festival of lights bring joy, prosperity, and peace to all homes.” He also said that the spirit of Diwali fits with Pakistan’s vision of tolerance and living together.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also used social media to send his best wishes. He said that the real meaning of Diwali is to be kind and respectful to each other.
He wrote, “We celebrate the festival of lights with our Hindu citizens, who are an important part of our country.”
“Let Diwali remind us to spread kindness, understanding, and the light of unity across our land.”
Celebrations all over Pakistan
People in Karachi, Hyderabad, Lahore, and Sukkur celebrated Diwali by decorating Hindu temples with diyas (lamps), rangoli art, and colorful lights. People in the community prayed for peace and prosperity, and then there were cultural events and charitable activities.
Major temples, like the Swami Narayan Mandir in Karachi and Hinglaj Mata Temple in Balochistan, got security and help with running things so that the celebrations went off without a hitch.
